Falcons and Cards Choose QBs

It's rumored that the Arizona Cardinals have decided to go withSoccer jerseys experience over youth. Former USC star Matt Leinart had been seen as the Cardinal starter, but his poor preseason performances have placed him on the bench. Instead, the Cardinals will start veteran Kurt Warner.

In Arizona's final preseason game, Leinart threw three picks, was four of 12 for 24 yards and earned a QB rating of 2.8. Leinart has been inconsistent in practices, has arm strength issues and is hot and cold where accuracy is concerned. Although the decision to start Warner over Leinart is still said to be under consideration, it appears to be the logical thing t do.

Warner, who was a starter for years with the St Louis Rams and has won a Super Bowl, has had injury issues, which have forced him into a backup spot. However, he is a tough, smart and accurate QB with a strong arm and excellent playmaking skills. If he can stay healthy, the Cardinals will certainly have a chance to win.
Tuesday, August 26, 2008 -- It's the old and the new, the rookie and the vet and the beginning and the end.
The Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals have made their choices regarding who will start for each team at QB in 2008.

The Falcons are going with their first-round draft pick Matt Ryan. Ryan, who was a star signal caller for the Boston College Eagles, was not expected to start in his rookie season. But none of the other potential starters, including Joey Harrington, were deemed to be as impressive as Ryan.

Ryan was evaluated over the course of over 3,000 snaps. All things considered, coaches felt that he was the most consistent on-field leader, best in interacting with coaches and other players and the finest performer in practices.
